Bleak Expectations

A comedy, by Mark Evans

(An amateur production presented by special arrangement with Nick Hern Books Ltd.)

Touring to a Venue near you!

Dodford Village Hall: Tues 14th May

Clent Parish Hall: Fri 17th, Sat 18th May

Synopsis

Join Sir Philip Bin for a joyfully absurd journey though the stories of his Dickensian youth. Gasp, guffaw and titter along at the many fond (and strangely familiar) friends and enemies that enrich this immersive, literary tale or riches, to rags, to riches.

Bleak Expectations started life as an award winning BBC Radio 4 Comedy Series before inspiring a closely related BBC Two Comedy series (The Bleak Old Shop of Stuff) starring Robert Webb (Mitchell and Webb). Last year, the show made it's way to the West-End where a roll-call of Britain's best Comedians (including Sally Philips, Stephen Fry, Jack Dee, Sue Perkins and more) starred as the narrator (Sir Philip).

Keen listeners of the original Radio 4 series will recognise the iconic charachters of Mr Gently Benevolent, Wackwell Hardthrasher and Pip's loyal friend, Harry Biscuit.

Join Us

We are always on the lookout for enthusiastic actors, dancers, singers and back-stage help to get involved with our productions.

COMIC members are all ages and come from all across the Midlands. Our nearest member lives right next door to the rehearsal hall. Our furthest lives in Oxford!

We have many talented members who work professionally in the Performing Arts industry and we have many who are treading the boards for the very first time. Your experience is not important, but we do require enthusiasm and a willingness to get involved.

Rehearsals are normally followed by a visit to one of many excellent drinking establishments and we host a range of social events throughout the year.

If you would like to find out more, please get in touch via e-mail or Facebook.
